Who are Maintainers?
A Maintainer is a trusted community member responsible for keeping CheatsDB listings accurate & up to date.
Maintainers usually focus on products within a specific game category, but may also be assigned to multiple games depending on their experience.
The Maintainer role is divided into two levels:
Curator - is a probationary Maintainer. This role is usually assigned to new contributors while we evaluate their activity, accuracy, judgment, and ability to work with CheatsDB standards.
Maintainer - is a trusted contributor with expanded permissions. Within their assigned jurisdiction, Maintainers may update certain information without requiring additional approval from CheatsDB staff.
Maintainers do not "own" listings. Their role is to keep listings reliable and useful for the community.
Can Maintainers be affiliated with projects?
Yes and no. It depends on the type of affiliation and the level of control the person has over the project.
If a person holds a leadership, ownership, development, or decision-making position in a project, they are not allowed to maintain the game category where their product is listed. This is considered a direct conflict of interest.
If a person is affiliated as support staff, reseller, community manager, or in another lower-level role, they may still be allowed to become a Maintainer, but with restrictions.
Affiliated Maintainers are not allowed to:
Set the Verified status for affiliated products.
Write official CheatsDB reviews for affiliated products.
Classify a product as Trusted on their own while this process is still handled manually.
Make decisions that directly benefit their own product, team, reseller operation, or close business partners.
Affiliation must always be disclosed. Hiding a conflict of interest is treated more seriously than having one.
Can I skip the probation period and become a Maintainer immediately?
This is handled on a case-by-case basis, but in most cases the answer is no.
If the game category you want to maintain is already active and contains listed products, a probation period is usually required. This allows us to verify that you can work accurately, stay neutral, and handle existing listings responsibly.
If the category is inactive or simply missing, the requirements may be more flexible. Contributors who are willing to build and maintain a missing game category from the ground up have a much higher chance of being accepted directly or fast-tracked.
TLDR: maintaining an existing active list requires more trust. Building a new inactive list gives you more room to prove yourself.
Maintainer Requirements
Maintainer requirements are divided into mandatory and optional requirements. Optional requirements are not strictly required, but applicants who can meet them will receive higher priority during review.
Mandatory Requirements
Stay informed about market news, provider updates, product changes, detections, scams, shutdowns, and other relevant events.
Keep product information accurate and up to date within their assigned game category.
Add new products that are available on the market.
Help archive all relevant products/orgs, including Trusted, Untrusted, Scam, and Discontinued products.
Process user submissions (requests/reports) in the Database Request Center.
Check user reviews for valid Proof of Purchase.
Follow CheatsDB standards when editing listings, statuses, classifications, and product data.
Optional Requirements
Verifying products directly. Writing detailed product reviews based on real testing.
Recording video footage & screenshots during verification.
Providing raw verification footage to CheatsDB for editing, publication, and future use on the platform or YouTube.
Applicants who can verify products and provide usable technical evidence are usually considered more valuable.
How can I apply?
At the moment, all Maintainer applications are submitted and reviewed through private messages. A dedicated application form will be available in the future.
When applying, please clearly state that you want to become a Maintainer for a specific game category.
Your application should include:
The game or category you want to maintain.
Your cheating experience (with proofs of your experience where possible).
Your current or past involvement with any providers, resellers, teams, or communities.
Links to your profiles on other forums or platforms.
A short explanation of why you want to maintain this category long term.
We are looking for people who know what they are doing and are willing to maintain their assigned category on a long-term basis.
If you only want to submit a few corrections or report outdated information, you do not need to apply for Maintainer. For that, please use the Product Listing form or the request/report options available on each product page.
